Are the cabinets made of solid oak, or oak veneer over particle board? Also can they be disassembled? Thanks.

It's solid wood, no veneer, and heavy. They cannot be disassembled. Hope this helps!

Yes, that is very helpful, thanks. Now I need to ask my wife if she likes them and brother-in-law if he can help me with his truck. I don't think the big one would fit in our Toyota Sienna, even with the seats out.

I'm inclined to agree with you. It's quite large at 56" x 71" and 17" deep. In the pictures, you see that the smaller piece is on the left. (We had to do that because of the wall sconce in the basement where it's being stored.) But that smaller piece actually looks best when placed to the right of the larger piece so the set is symmetrical. There are lights in back up on the top but one of the three fixtures doesn't work -- it can probably be repaired easily enough. There are 3 working bulbs with it. It actually looks quite nice especially when the lights are on. I hope your wife likes it and that your BIL can help. If not, I understand. Thanks for your interest!

One more thing -- there is a removable shelf you can see on the left (in the smaller piece). When removed, you can see the pieces are symmetrical when you place the small piece to the right of the big one. Thanks.
