All the details

We have four chickens which we re-homed via a charity 4 weeks ago. They have been consistently attacked by our resident flock and we have had to remove them for their own health and safety. We don't have adequate housing for them and are in a large rabbit hutch which is far too small for them. They originally came from a free range farm and are over 72 weeks old. They haven't laid any eggs since arriving. We are looking for someone to look after them, they are NOT for eating or animal feed.

Hello Are these still available? I am interested in taking these on. Just a couple of questions. Can you tell me what type of chickens they are and if they were laying when they left the farm they can from? I have had and looked after chickens before but in a previous house so would need to get a couple of things organised first to look after them. I would also need to find a way of transporting them as I am based in Sunbury but know Camberley well - my parents live in Frimley. And I have no intention of eating them I would like layers for my little boy and of course me who misses having them! Many thanks Jenny

They are hybrid layers and the farms get rid of them at 72 weeks as they stop laying every day. Since we've separated them from our original four, they have started laying again. Don't expect them to lay every day though and they may take some while to settle in. One is very friendly, the other three are more wary. I'm glad that you've had experience with hens, we've had them for over 10 years now and love them.

Ok great. Let me see what I need to do to make the garden chicken friendly when I get home later and I will be in touch. Thanks
