Metal bed and rails

This item is in Boston

All the details

The frame measures 62" across by 80" long--so in other words a Queen size bed. It's been in the garage for a number of years, but appears to be in pretty nice condition. A black metal frame. There are what appear to be a full set of sturdy looking railings with bed, as well as a plastic bag containing assembly hardware.

Does the grid like part go under the mattress ao I would not need a box spring and does it break down at all? I have a four door sedan and am not sure if I can transport.

The "headboard" measures 62" wide by 52" high and does not fold up or break down. (The "footboard" is 62" x 34"). These two pieces are light weight and could maybe be tied to the roof of a car (with some padding to keep them from scratching up the vehicle). I don't know if you'd need a box spring or not. There are two side rails and three cross rails. It's possible that a sturdy mattress could rest right on the rails, themselves, I guess...or maybe on a piece of plywood.
