All the details

It's time to say goodbye to my 19 year old PEUGEOT 306. It has been a fabulous little car, built like a tank, safe and reliable. It is coming up for its MOT and it may or may not get through, but I know it will need work to keep it running well. I can't afford to keep it going, especially as now I have use of my partner's car, and a friend has offered a car share if I need it. I am a gardener and use the car as a beast of burden transporting all kinds of mucky things so it's not pristine, but cleans up nicely if you are so inclined. It will need; At least two new tyres (one is worn, and one has a slow puncture). Hand brake needs to be adjusted new brake pads new electric housing in the driver's door ( holding at the moment but unreliable, affects locking mechanism. a mechanic friend has said you can get the units from a breakers yard) cam belt due to be changed Sometimes problems starting after being not used for a couple of days. I have a failsafe technique to start it by priming the fuel pump that an RAC man showed me, but best to try and deal with this. I have a service record, backdated MOT certificates logbook etc so you can see what's been done over the years. It was my dad's car, and I have used it since 2004. There are only 112,236 miles on the clock. I have listed the things that I know need attention, there may be more, but it is running well at the moment. So, those of you out there that like tinkering with cars, or would be willing to invest some money in keeping what has been a great little car on the road, she's yours, please save her from the scrapyard, she's way to good for that.

If you don't manage to give away your car, I ended going on a comparison site for scrap my car - they actually give you money for it (and turn up at your house). Just a thought, though I too felt really sad sending my beloved car to scrap heaven a couple of years ago, (but at least they dismantle parts). Kindest regards Linda
