All the details
Much-loved old Hypnos Grasmere GRS62 Double Sofa bed purchased in 1988, would suit retro refurbishment project. The sofa is exceptionally comfortable, and the seating has not sagged. According to the original literature, which I still have, the sofa has a "hardwood frame, glued and screwed", and the bed a metal one. It is mounted on castors. The metal frame has a 3-fold action, with the 'head' end of the mattress and frame inserting into the back of the sofa. It's a small double size - suits mattress approx 180cm x 132cm x10cm. The mattress is included to provide structure to the seating, but will need to be replaced. The loose covers in "Crowson Amadour" Colour 8 linen union fabric and are in pretty good condition - some staining, and a small repaired tear. (Dry cleanable) Arm to arm approx 192cm Front to back approx 97cm Back height approx 78cm (plus about another 10 for the cushions) Arm height approx 54cm Length from back of sofa to end of mattress when extended approx 230cm From the original literature: 'Solid beech frame, rigidly and robustly constructed, and upholstered with fire-retardant foam [no labels - must pre-date the requirement]. Back suspension of woven, elasticated interlaced webbing, with hessian overlay and fire-retardant foam clad. Incorporating 'Waterloo' heavy duty, precision engineered bed action, with soft-deck areas for seat cushions. Mattress support features soft-deck and spring mesh. Counterbalanced smooth and easy conversion action. Fire-retardant calico tight-covered frame. Loose covers, to choice on both frame and cushions. Cushion interiors: Dacron-polyester wrapped fire-retardant foam. Back cushions also available in curled feather [which this sofa-bed has].'
