Problems on the site

I do like the ability to leave feedback, it is a really helpful feature. However, the site isn't easy to use. I am having a problem with people applying for closed items and there is also an issue with replying to mail. People can leave messages and I can see them this is confusing for both donor and applicants. I also don't especially like the idea Personally I don't feel the need to play God at the end of 7 days. I don't want to "sift". I list items I no longer use or people need to "make a case" for being needy enough for the item. want in order to A) Save throwing items out or B) to make much needed space. On other "similar sites" I do agree there is a problem with people not turning up and this site appeals to me because you can leave feedback - so the ones who DO turn up get first option.

Hi from FreelyWheely Admin, When an item has ended, it is absolutely not possible to request it or contact the person who listed the item. In fact that is one of the most common questions we get - how can I contact the poster of an item that has ended. I suspect in this case that someone has emailed you at your @freelywheely email address about the item, possibly they wrote the email prior to the item ending and sent it afterwards. But if you think otherwise then email me at admin@freelywheely.com with some more details and I will investigate, because that is definitely not what is supposed to happen. Secondly, there are a bunch of reasons for allowing multiple requests for an item. I can understand that they might not always apply, but the real reason behind it is to give everyone a fair chance, not just the person who is fastest off the mark. But as you say, perhaps the feedback mechanism is sufficient, and perhaps we should make the 'request message' optional. Let me know what you think Jon Vaughan FreelyWheely Admin

Yes I agree things can't always go to the one sitting on the computer and it is nice to wait a bit if possible. Maybe a facility to select how many days. Sometimes when the space is limited its just nice to get rid fast, but I agree if people can wait then its nice to give a good chance to all. I also ( in my dreams ) might like an ability to block some users. That could be helpful. And my final request - having no idea how to implement it, would be in some way to see where a requester is coming from or at least block in the near vicinity. Sometimes there could be a case for not wanting the neighbours to know what you are giving away. :D
