Wanted: Laptop or PC

All the details

I know this is probably a long shot but figured I might as well try anyway.. I've been accepted onto a college course which I'll be doing from home around working part time. My old laptop has given up entirely - won't turn on now, but had been slowly dying for a while (missing keys, some keys not typing letters, some typing incorrect letters, and just unbelievably soon). Basically I'm just wondering whether there was any chance that anyone had an old (but working) laptop or PC that they maybe don't use anymore and that they'd consider parting with? Obviously not expecting anything fancy or expensive, just something that turns on, that I'm able to type up essays/assessments etc on it and I'm able to connect it to the internet to access the coursework and keep in touch with my tutor/submit my assignments via the portal.
